Let me explain the cable stitch real quick. In the pattern, where your cable stitch is, it's really 2 pegs. First, you e-wrap and knit off both pegs. Then you carefully take the loop off of the first peg and move the loop from the second peg to the first peg. Then put the loop from the first peg onto the second peg, without losing the twist. Finally you e-wrap and knit off the second peg. Basically, you are just switching the loops. I can't believe how easy it really is. Now then, on to the pattern for this hat. I highly recommend using markers on the loom for this pattern. I used tiny rubber bands on the pegs that needed to be knit or cabled. You just have to keep track of which row you are on.
Yarn: 2 skeins Lion Brand Homespun in Shaker
Loom: 40 pegs (any multiple of 4 would work)
Stitches used: E-wrap knit, purl, cable
Brim:
Row 1-6: Knit one, purl one, repeat for all pegs
Hat Body:
Rows 1-5: Knit 2, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, repeat for remainder of row
Row 6: Cable (2 pegs), purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, repeat for remainder of row
Repeat rows 1-6 7 times or until desired hat size.
Last 4-5 rows: e-wrap knit all pegs
To finish:
Decrease by moving the loop on peg 1 to peg 2, the loop on peg 3 to peg 4 and so on all the way around the loom. I finished with a simple gather.
