I was going for a kind of chevron/zig zag pattern. I'm pretty happy with the results, I'm going to try it again a little differently to make the stripes wider, but this is a totally cute hat. This pattern is a little time consuming and you have to really pay attention to where you are at.
Yarn: 2 skeins Lion Brand Homespun in Mediterranean
Loom: 40 Pegs (any loom with multiples of 5)
Stitches used: E-wrap knit, purl
Brim:
Row 1-6: Knit one, purl one, repeat for all pegs
Hat Body:
Row 1: Purl one, Knit three, Purl one, repeat to end of row
Row 2: Purl two, Knit one, Purl two, repeat to end of row
Row 3: Knit one, Purl three, Knit one, repeat to end of row
Row 4: Knit two, Purl one, Knit two, repeat to end of row
Rows 5-40: Repeat rows 1-4 9 more times for a total of 40 rows or until hat reaches desired length.
Rows 41-45: E-wrap knit all
To finish:
Decrease by moving the loop on peg 1 to peg 2, the loop on peg 3 to peg 4 and so on all the way around the loom. I finished with a simple gather.

Here's another I hat I recently finished. This one is the same pattern as this one. It's my favorite spiral pattern done with 2 strands on the brim and 1 for the hat body to make it light and airy for summer. This hat is in Lion Brand Homespun yarn in Barks.
